Amazed at registration in Queensland

In regard to Michael Bevan's article "Engineering in Queensland - registration required" it never fails to amaze me how the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland can continue to support an act that separates it from the remainder of the country. All other states recognise Engineers Australia Chartered status as the level of qualification required to provide a professional engineering service, what makes Queensland any different?
