Queensland Division responds to flood report

Flood management should be primarily handled by the state government rather than local councils, according to Engineers Australia Queensland Divisions submission in response to the Queensland Flood Commission of Inquiry Interim Report. The submission was also critical of the proposal to reduce dam levels to increase flood mitigation capacity. It said that under the current system in Queensland, different councils put varying levels of effort into their flood management activities.
