Consulting engineer in Walgett, NSW, and Young Professional Engineer of the Year for 2010. What made you choose engineering as a career? On the day before our university preferences were due I took the 300-page University Admission Book, a red pen and a deck chair, and crossed out every degree I didn't want to do... the only two options left were engineering and architecture. I chose the degree which I felt would possibly allow me to return to rural NSW. What motivated you to work in rural NSW? Love and lifestyle. I grew up in rural NSW and when my boyfriend moved home to manage his family farm 50km west of Walgett, I made the move, determined to have a satisfying career in engineering no matter where I chose to live.
