Maintaining a diverse portfolio of major assets is a complex process that involves not just a methodical approach, but also at times, the full gamut of modern communications technology. One of the many issues that engineers face is the early detection of structural defects that may or not cause a problem further down the line. However, now, thanks to some innovative engineering research being conducted in Australia, there may be a solution on the horizon which could allow for pre-emptive assessment.
