Australians win sustainability awards

The last month has seen the release of the August issue of Sustainable Engineering Australia in which the following stories were featured. Australia's National Atlas of Groundwater Dependent Ecosystems (GDEs) has won the 2013 Geospatial World Application Excellence Award for Environment Protection and Monitoring. The GDE atlas assists in the consideration of ecosystem groundwater requirements in natural resource management, water planning and environmental impact assessments. The combined University of Wollongong and TAFE Illawarra "Team UOW Australia" won the Solar Decathlon China 2013 finals with its "Illawarra Flame" retrofitted fibro house entry, beating 19 other entries from around the world.
