Engineers Australia has made a submission on the relevance of engineering in innovation for the recently released Industry Innovation Precincts Consultation Framework Paper by the federal government. The first two innovation precincts in the $500 million program will be for food and manufacturing. Engineers Australia said it did not wish to identify specific industries or sectors as candidates for industry innovation precincts. The submission said engineers are employed across almost every industry in the economy and census statistics show that the employment of engineers has increased substantially in almost every industry in the five years prior to 2011.
