While much attention has been focused on the impact of natural disasters on infrastructure, a marked feature of the 2011 Queensland floods was the inability of many industrial and commercial buildings to resume work quickly after flood waters had receded. This was primarily because many building services, traditionally supported by basement infrastructure, had to be repaired first.
