Engineers to advise on NSW CSG

The NSW chief scientist and engineer has recommended an independent regulator which features high level engineering expertise be established to consult on a range of areas relating to coal seam gas (CSG). This was one of 16 recommendations by Prof Mary O'Kane in the final report of a review of CSG activity in NSW, released last week. "The regulator will require high levels of scientific and engineering expertise, including geological and geotechnical ability, environmental and water knowledge and information, and ICT capability including data, monitoring and modelling expertise," O'Kane stated in the report.
