Hallmarks of great strategic planning

Great businesses manage their strategic planning processes better than their peers and are able to create a competitive advantage out of the tools and techniques they apply. Understanding how these organisations implement strategy can provide beneficial insights across the engineering sector. Recently, I have been reflecting on the strategic planning processes of number of different organisations I have worked with and what has made each successful. This article unpacks strengths of organisations I have worked with to present eight hallmarks of great strategic planning. These hallmarks have almost universal application across industry sectors and organisation sizes including those that engineers work in.
