New forensics lab for UTS

Deep in the bowels of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), students witness the stuff of nightmares: shootings; stabbings; drug overdoses. And not just witness, but photograph, catalogue and study. Luckily, the victims are all mannequins and the blood is fake. The crime scenes are frozen in time, one in each of all the rooms of a simulated apartment. The crime scene simulation lab, in the new UTS Faculty of Science and Graduate School of Health Building, has been custom designed, according to UTS. Teachers arrange the tableaus in advance, leaving fingerprints, muddy footprints and other clues behind, allowing the students practice-based training for careers in forensic science.
