R&D Bill would boost water system security

Hoping to ward off future terrorist acts, House Science Committee members have taken an initial step to make water and sewage systems less vulnerable. On Nov. 15 the panel approved a bill that directs the Environmental Protection Agency to award research and develop ment grants for water infrastructure security. The measure calls for $12 million in grants over five years. Only research institutions would be eligible for the EPA aid.
