WTC ENGINEERS CREDIT DESIGN IN SAVING THOUSANDS OF LIVES

Two engineers inti-mately involved with the World Trade Center credit its design and construction with saving thousands of lives, including one of their own. Frank Lombardi, chief engineer of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, told a hushed audience attending an Oct. 3 meeting of the Society of Military Engineers in New York City that "so many people were saved because the tow- ers stayed up" for 57 and 105 minutes.
