On the 50th anniversary of the skid-steer loader, Seoul-based Doosan Infracore on Nov. 30 closed a $4.9-billion purchase of West Fargo, N.D.-based Bobcat Co. and utility equipment divisions from Bermuda-based Ingersoll Rand Co. Ltd. The Korean maker of medium and large-sized construction equipment says the acquisition will help it expand into a broad line of compact machines and attachments and grow its global distribution to 3,500 dealers and 20 manufacturing plants in China, Europe and the U.S.
