Consultants have been preaching to the construction industry for decades about the benefits of having management and ownership succession plans. Trade associations routinely have seminars at conventions and other events to give members at least a starting point for developing such plans as many industry firms are closely held or family-run businesses. Some companies listen, others don't, but the coming tsunami of baby-boomer retirements is going to change the way the industry operates, ready or not, like it or not.
