J. Harper Contractors Succeeding In The Pacific Northwest

2008 has been an extremely busy and eventful year for J. Harper Contractors, Inc., including being recognized by the AGC of Washington who selected J. Harper for the 2008 Safety Excellence Award. J. Harper's year has also been successful completing multiple large projects simultaneously throughout the year. Projects ranged from a tank farm in Oregon, an aircraft hanger at Boeing Field, underwater wrecking of dry docks in Lake Washington, multiple commercial projects in downtown Seattle and a large turn of the century Rainier Gold Storage Stock House located in South Seattle. The show case of project completed by J. Harper in '08 was the Rainier Cold Storage Project. This project included demolition of 123,000 square feet - 4 story unreinforced masonry structure, salvaging 360,000board feet of heavy timbers for reuse and crushing 19,000 tons of concrete and brick for fill on a nearby site. The extreme challenge on the project was wrecking severely structurally unstable 70 ft tall masonry walls immediately adjacent to high voltage power lines and Airport Way, both serving downtown Seattle.
