Virginia Transportation Projects Face Painful Budget Cuts

Five months after slashing its construction budget by $1.1 billion, the Virginia Dept. of Transportation may now cut up to $2.6 billion more from its current six-year program. Virginia Secretary of Transportation Pierce Homer announced on Oct. 15 that the weak economy and reduced state and federal revenue are prompting widespread cuts in construction, maintenance and staffing.
