Slim Floor System Used in Mid-rise Hotel

The Holiday Inn hotel, under construction in the city of Saskatoon SK, Canada, will have a unique structure. The 170,000-sq-ft location, in downtown Saskatoon, is slated for completion in early 2011. Calnitsky Associates Architects provided the design. This structure is the first major project of its kind in North America to be designed to incorporate the Deltabeam, a trapezoid-shaped, pre-engineered composite beam that is used widely in Europe and was recently introduced to North America. The system combines steel and concrete to create a uniform slim floor.
