New Flood-Control Job Protest Now Halts Its Reprocurement

The team that won a $675-million New Orleans flood-control project contract last April, only to see losing bidders prevail (see story, p. 20), is now protesting the reprocurement, a Corps of Engineers spokesman confirms. The CBY joint venture filed its protest on Nov. 4 in the U.S. Court of Claims. The Corps reprocurement involving all previous bidders is stopped until after the court rules on the new protest, says a Nov. 7 letter from contracting officer Timothy D. Black. The second contract had been set for re-award by April 2012. A CBY spokesman says the claims court ruling is not expected until mid-March.
