From logistics planning for a congested urban site to constructability analysis of a complex rebar design, the $289-million, 13-story Alta Bates Summit Medical Campus (ABSMC) patient care pavilion in Oakland, Calif., is anything but routine for the project team. Much of the ABSMC foundation design was based on decades-old as-built drawings from the existing buildings.
