Managing Alternative Project Delivery Expectations

Alternative project delivery mechanisms, such as integrated project delivery (IPD) or public-private partnerships (PPP), pose a challenge to the insurance industry in that they have contractual liabilities that are distinctive from the traditional tort liability system of law in the U.S. The nature of an IPD contract, for instance, assumes that all program participants share the liabilities and responsibilities of the project, as compared to where one contractor is liable for their part, or perhaps a defective condition.
