The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has sued two units of U.K.-based Balfour Beatty pic that manage privatized housing at two U.S. Navy bases in New England for federal lead-paint violations, the agency's Boston region said on Jan. 10. The EPA complaint alleges that Northeast Housing LLC and Balfour Beatty Military Housing Management failed over several years to notify prospective tenants, including families with young children, about potential lead-paint hazards in the nearly 760 housing units affected. The firms face a fine of $153,070 for the alleged violations.
