Structural-Steel Prices Slip 0.2% in December

Prices for structural steel declined for the fourth consecutive month, according to ENR's 20-city average price for channel, wide-flange and I-beams. The combined 1.4% drop left the average steel price just 0.9% above a year ago. Tracked by ENR, December's prices for concrete reinforcing bar fell 0.4% for the second consecutive month, after slipping 1.1% in October. The price cuts left ENR's 20-city average price for grade-60 rebar 1.5% below December 2012's level. Prices for stainless-steel products also fell for the fourth month in a row, leaving the average price for stainless-steel sheet 2.9% below a year ago.
