"Hiring a CM has helped John Wayne Airport deliver a completed terminal within a tight time frame and $88 million under the program budget," says Lawrence Serafini, PE, deputy airport director, facilities. The Terminal C program at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, Calif., completed late in 2011, was one of the largest public works projects ever in Orange County. The site was land-locked on all four sides, preventing clear construction access. Construction activities impacted virtually every area of airport operations. The CM team used BIM to resolve potential design issues before construction began, improve coordination between trades and facilitate the shop drawing and fabrication process.
