The application is based on the assumption that only the actual touch down and take off parts of airport runways need to be above ground. On landing the aircraft will enter a large tunnel, where the air compression will help to slow it down. The displaced air can be used to accelerate aircraft leaving from separate tunnels. Air craft would not need to taxi, but would be carried by conveyor belts and lifts between runways, loading bays, refuelling positions, etc. Multi-level car parks, offices, engineering facilities, passenger terminals, etc would all be blow ground. Exhaust fumes from aircraft would be filtered before releasing it to the environment.
