Study: Spending Hike May Lift GDP

A long-term boost in local, state, federal and private-sector infrastructure spending could lift the U.S. economy and increase jobs and workers' take-home pay, a new National Association of Manufacturers report says. The Sept. 23 study comes about two months after Congress took a stopgap approach to prop up the weakened Highway Trust Fund. That $10.8-billion legislative "patch" extends only through May.
