Raising the Profile of a Critical California Interchange

Commercial and residential growth in recent years has created major congestion near State Route 78 (SR-78), a primary east-west travel corridor, and the I-15 interchange in San Diego County. In an effort to improve movement and set the stage for future improvements to the SR-78 corridor, the city of Escondido, Calif., working with California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrans), the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and the city of San Marcos, initiated the $n.5-million SR-78 Widening/Nordahl Road Bridge Improvements project.
