The successful delivery of a large new or expansion project, whether power plant or steel mill, is directly tied to the timely delivery and installation of all the necessary components from pipes and pumps to motors and mechanical systems. For voestalpine Texas LLC, the logistics management challenge came to the forefront when they began work on a new direct reduction plant near Corpus Christi, Texas. The plant, for which the main components are supplied by Siemens Industry Inc. and its consortium partner Midrex Technologies, will be the largest hot briquetted iron (HBI) plant in the world. The challenge is to complete the project by late 2015.
