CALIFORNIA Controlled Thermal Resources (US) Inc. is planning to construct a 280-MW geothermal power plant, the Hell's Kitchen Power Station, on a 1,900-acre site along the southern shore of the Salton Sea, near Calipatria. The project scope includes design and construction of a control room, a 230-kV substation and interconnection line, production and injection wells and well pads, gathering and injection systems, aboveground insulated geothermal fluid pipelines, a water storage pond and access roads, as well as the purchase and installation of two steam turbine and generator power-train units, steam flash vessels, and clarifiers. The plant will use Crystalliser Reactor Clarifier power-plant technology and be expandable to 750-megawatts. Development, Design & Engineering Inc., an affiliated company, is performing preliminary engineering services. Construction is expected to begin in 2019.
