Micropile Right Foundation for Floodwall Protection in New York

Superstorm Sandy wreaked havoc on the New York City subway system when it hit the Eastern Seaboard in late October 2012. Wind and rain caused a 13-ft storm surge in the Harlem River, sending floodwater throughout the coastal area. One railyard and station in particular, the 148~(th) Street Lenox Terminal Station, was deeply affected. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, working with EE Cruz, is giving the Lenox Terminal Yard a facelift in conjunction with the Super-storm Sandy Recovery and Resiliency Program. The entire yard is getting a perimeter floodwall and extension of the current sheet pile bulkhead along the Harlem River.
