"Most contractors have all the work they can handle plus healthy backlogs. The contract bond market remains soft, and competition is strong, especially in the small to middle market segments where regional companies and new market entrants are aggressively competing for market share. While general/heavy contractors remain the 'choice' accounts, virtually all contractors are experiencing the best pricing and terms they have seen in years."One of the challenges in today's otherwise strong surety market is the consequences of bond threshold increases.
