UNCHARTED TERRITORY?

Gantt charts were invented by Henry Gantt (1861-1919) during his work on the construction of Navy ships during world war one. The method he invented has proved extremely resilient and has changed little over the past 100 years. Today it is still widely regarded as an indispensable project management tool. At first the charts may seem difficult and complicated to understand. However, persevering for a short time enables manager's access to the many advantages that they provide. The chart is built sequentially in three stages, the grid, the taskbars, and the dependencies (Fig. 1).
