Melding Electricity and Natural Gas

Although electric utility deregulation has been discussed for many years, it was not until the U.K. electric system was privatized and deregulated in 1990 that the momentum began to increase. The passage of EPAct in 1992 and the first California blue book in 1994 further accelerated developments. The near term will continue to be one of considerable uncertainty as federal and state commissions review and react to the responses, and legal challenges, of companies and interest groups regarding new proposed regulations.
