Energy in FSU and Eastern Europe: from planned integration to market diversification

摘要

The latest World Bank's Development Report devoted to the problems of transition from plan to market is revealing once again the significance for the East European region of energy availability and its efficient use. This emphasis on energy matters, but also the fifth anniversary of the COMECON disintegration, is providing an occasion to review the state of the energy transition from a centrally planned energy integra- tion to the diversification of energy markets coupled with introduction of efficient energy pricing.
