Research on workshop environment in the textile company using analytic hierarchy process

Workshop environment in the textile company is poor, but is particularly important to the health of workers, it depends on a set of qualitative and quantitative criteria, and they may even be in conflict with each other. This study aims to develop a multicriteria decision-making approach to judge the relative importance weights of the various factors in the textile workshop. For this purpose, firstly, the influential criteria for workshop environment in the textile company were determined using a comprehensive literature review and the authors' experience. Four criteria are involved: thermal comfort, sound environment, air quality, luminous environment, three to five sub-criteria of each criterion are taken into account. Then, the evaluation of workshop environment using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach was developed and reported based on a three-step framework: creating the hierarchy structure of evaluation, doing pair wise comparisons, calculating the weight for each criterion. In the final stage, a case in a textile company was studied to judge the environmental quality of four workshops, and the survey of workers was conducted to prove the feasibility of this approach.
