2011 MAR 21 - (VerticalNews.com) -- According to recent research published in thernjournal Optimal Control Applications & Methods, "We study a trade-off between economic andrnenvironmental benefits using a two-stage optimal control setting where the player can switch torna cleaner technology that is environmentally 'efficient' but economically less productive. Wernprovide an analytical characterization of the solution paths for the case where the consideredrnutility functions are increasing and strictly concave with respect to consumption and decreasingrnlinearly with respect to the pollution stock."
