Retail Gasoline Station Numbers Continue Decline Rate

The number of retail gasoline outlets in Canada continues to decline, according to a recently released survey by MJ Ervin & Associates Inc. (MJEA).rnThe National Retail Gasoline Site Census 2008 study provides a comprehensive enumeration of the number of outlets in Canada and it identified 12,684 as of Dec. 31,2008, down from 13,772 in the previous survey in 2006 and a continuation of a downward trend since 1989, when over 20,000existed.rnThe 2008 outlet count represents 3.8 gasoline stations for every 10,000 persons in Canada, down from 4.2 stations for the same number of people in the 2006 tally.
