Concerned about criticisms concerning electricity sector operations and whether supply from independent power producers (IPP) is required in British Columbia, Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources (EM&PR) has gone on the offensive with a list of responses to various claims.rnFor claims that B.C. does not need to be electricity self-sufficient because it can easily import any new power needed from other jurisdictions, EM&PR pointed out the government has mandated that province should achieve that goal by 2016 to ensure BC Hydro and Power Authority has sufficient supply in the worst water years and have buffer resources for higher-than-anticipated requirements.
