The technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) outlook by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu for this year predicts smart grid companies may generate $25 billion (U.S.) in revenues this year - possibly representing the biggest and fastest growing sector in the green as well the overall tech market.rnDeloitte based that forecast on 2008 statistics, which it said show smart grid solution providers were enjoying 50% revenue growth and an 80% increase in bookings.rn"These have the potential to reduce up to 30% of electricity consumption and dramatically reduce the need for the construction of new power plants or the operation of environmentally harmful sources of generation," Deloitte said in its Technology Predictions TMT Trends 2009.
