摘要

Despite deciding a record-low number of cases last year, the Supreme Court made headlines with a handful of 5-4 decisions on such showstopping issues as affirmative action, abortion, global warming, and the death penalty for the mentally ill. At the other end of the spectrum are a near half-dozen cases that concern this article. With the usual lack of fanfare, the Court ruled on several issues that rarely sell newspapers but that greatly affect employers, employees, unions, employment-law counsel, and human resources professionals. Though they received virtually no media attention, the following cases present noteworthy developments across a wide range of labor and employment law topics.
