Elevator Upgrade at the Bangkok Chancery for the U.S. Embassy

The U.S. Embassy, located in Bangkok's Chancery, had needed its existing elevators modernized. The State Department approached ThyssenKrupp Elevator regarding the two passenger elevators, which were in a two-car grouping, served five stops and were powered by hydraulic direct-acting below units with an eight-inch-diameter piston. The units traveled 65 feet at a speed of 120fpm, with a lifting capacity of 3500 pounds. The elevators featured two-piece, center-opening doors, finished in hairline stainless steel, running four feet wide by nine feet high, which gave access to a cab six feet wide by four feet six inches deep by 12 feet high, also finished in hairline stainless steel. A service elevator was identical in specifications with the exceptions of a lifting capacity of 5000 pounds and two-piece, side-opening doors.
