Larger substation buildings are still built today on site using conventional means - bricks and cement, ready-mix concrete and prefabricated concrete parts. The contractor must coordinate the works of all the different trades involved in the civil and electrical construction, from the enquiry stage up to completion and commissioning. For some time now the block module method offers the possibility of transferring many of the traditional works into a well supervised and climatcally independant production. On site works are reduced to foundations, roof tiling, sealing and electrical connections. A new substation concept is introduced, in which a concrete housing is fully fitted with all MV and LV switch-gear in the factory. On site the substation is lowered into position by crane and the cable connetions are made. This concept was developed in cooperation between EAM Kassel, AEG Energie-technik and Betonbau GmbH. In addition to cost reductions the advantages may be seen in very short erection times, high reliability and optimal personnel safety.%Die Verfasser stellen ein neues Schaltstations-Konzept vor, bei dem ein komplettes Schalthaus mit neuen Mittelspannungs-Schaltanlagen in einer einzigen fugenlosen Raumzelle schlüsselfertig in der Fabrik vormontiert wird. Auf der Baustelle wird dieses Schalthaus mittels Autokran abgeladen, aufgestellt und lediglich noch an die Kabelnetze angeschlossen.
