Vodafone New Zealand has become the first network operator to introduce a service that reduces the temptation for drivers to text while they are at the wheel. DriveSafe was developed by SMS services and infrastructure vendor Telsis. It is a service provided on the messaging network, so is compatible with any type or age of phone. When it is enabled - by texting a command such as 'drive on' -DriveSafe automatically responds to any text with an operator-branded reply such as, 'I'm driving at the moment. I'll read your text as soon as it is safe to do so.' At the end of the journey the driver texts a command to turn off the service.
