The company already has a series of 100nF MLCCs with Y5V dielectrics (-30℃ to 85℃, capacitance change of +22/-82%) available. But now, Samsung offers you the even-better X5R lineup (-55℃ to 85℃, capacitance change of +- 15%). If you replace a 0402 case size MLCC by a 0201 case size MLCC, you can save the space on the PCB because the footprint of a 0201 case is only 64% that of a 0402 case. Importantly, the ESL value is also lower than that of a 0402 case size MLCC, boosting performance in a highspeed environment.
