Bandwidth, sample rate, and memory depth are the most common specifications engineers evaluate when they select a digitizing oscilloscope. However, waveform update rate—the rate at which a scope acquires waveforms and updates the display—is another important factor to consider. Often overlooked, waveform update rate can have a huge impact on how responsive a scope seems to be to an input. Even more important, it affects your ability to find and fix intermittent circuit problems.
