The SMT702 PCI Express peripheral module provides 8 lanes of PXI Express, two channels of 3-GHz 8-bit A/ D conversion, and a high density Xilinx Virtex 5 XC5VLX50T FPGA for logic and serial I/O. The boards two DDR2 memory banks are accessible by the FPGA to store data on the fly. The A/D converters have settings for offset and scale factor, and can achieve 7 bits of ENOB, 44 dB SNR, and 54 dB SFDR. The board's PLL+VCO chip yields a stable sampling frequency and the PLL will lock the VCO on either the board's 100-MHz reference, the PXI Express 100-MHz reference, or on an external reference.
