Growing up, I was surrounded by robots. They were in my living room on Saturday mornings while I watched cartoons on TV, at the movie theater in the afternoon where I saw flying saucers land in Washington DC or on a forbidden planet, and underneath my bed covers when I'd read comic books by flashlight.rnThey weren't around much at school - the closest thing to them allowed in the classroom being the creature that Mary Shelly wrote about - but afterwards I found them in the library. And they were at their best under the guidance of Isaac Asimov, who explained their ideal guiding principles in the short-story "Runaround," in the book, I, Robot.
