USB 2.0 oscillator offers fast startup time

Ideal for full- and Hi-speed USB 2.0 interfaces, the MM8201 oscillator offers a startup time of 300 ps, a standby current consumption of 200 nA under typical conditions, and programmable frequencies from 10 to 100 MHz. The device can be used to lower the bit error rates and improve the noisernimmunity represented by the "eye diagram" performance of USB interfaces.rnThe device is based on the company's CMOS Harmonic Oscillator (CHO) technology and generates the commonly used USB frequencies of 12/24/30 and 48 MHz. Housed in a 5 × 3.2-mm crystal-compatible package, the oscillator eliminates all mechanical resonators, and enables USB devices with small and narrow USB form factors.
