摘要

Researchers at the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY) have reported production of the platinum nanowires thousands of times longer than any previously made - an advance that they say could speed development of fuel cells. The research was detailed in a recent report in Nano Letters.rnAccording to James C. M. Li, professor of mechanical engineering, the platinum nanowires produced by him and graduate student Jiang-Ian Shui are roughly 10 nm in diameter and centimeters in length -rnlong enough to create the first self-supporting "web" of pure platinum that can serve as an electrode in a fuel cell.
