Electric vehicle pioneer ZAP has begun shipping a lithium battery systems for various models of its electric cars, trucks, vans, and scooters that offers twice the driving range. ZAP estimates lead-acid batteries have 300 to 500 charge/discharge cycles, compared to 2,000 cycles for lithium.
