When designing the VHP100 Bulk Metal foil resistor, the team at Vishay Intertechnology wasn't attempting to design just any ol' resistor. The designers simply wanted to create the best resistor on the market, and by targeting some very particular applications, they succeeded in creating a next-generation device that set a new standard in reliability.
